yes we hosted the ultimate "fancy dress" party.
some did come as cowboys with guns {cringe} pirates with swords {cringe} and a male servant/pioneer came as a female balerina {oh my god nearly got deleted!

It's always something with them. If it wasn't the costumes, it would be the music. If it wasn't the music, it would be the dancing. If it wasn't the dancing, it would be somebody was drinking alcohol or wine. If it wasn't that, then somebody showed up who somebody thought shouldn't be there. If all was good, then it's just the fact that you had a large gathering and some people actually had fun. It never ends.

so the watchtower in it's wisdom put a strict bad on women wearing pants at meetings, even in siberia or alaska where it is freezing cold....i qoute the governing body who said: "we need to show these sisters who wears the pants in our congregations...literally.".
in the 70's when it was all the rage, my mum tried wearing slacks to the hall....."go and get changed" said the sister who studied with her.
What are the rules of dress for women in other churches? It's been awhile since I've inquired about the matter. Sometimes it would make sense for women to be in some type of pants outfit. (extreme cold, etc.) But, you know the WTS....ain't gonna happen.

2007 so we go on holidays and my wife decided to visit bethel.....i wasn't even planning to go to the meetings, so i put on running shoes, blue slacks, and a light blue polo shirt....clean shaven....to a "worldly" person i would look neat and tidy....a bit of a nerd even!
to bethelites i looked like a slob giving the finger to jehovah!
one bethelite girl asked my wife if we were "newly interested.

Thank you WalkTall...It has been a while . He died in Feb 2003. He died thinking the reason no one was visiting him was because Jehovah was mad at him about something and was punishing him. That really hurt him. The sad part is I wonder if they realize what they did to him? I could tell when they apologised that they really felt their excuses were valid..
Snoozy......that is terrible. I am so sorry that happened and that your husband thought that. That was one thing about JW's that I could never figure out.....how they could be so callous to the older ones.

a woman who is studying/attending the kh where my mom goes has 8 kids.
the oldest is 15y and the baby is only 7 weeks old.
after studying for some time, she decided it would be morally right for her and the kids father to get married.
That is just dumb. Where is the advise that the man is the father of the children and can help raise and support them? It's not there because he is not a member! Mark it down........she'll live to regret it.

There are so many introverts, I wonder if thats a trait of ex-jw's or internet users?
I found that strange also. I think it has to be a personal choice, because whether it was work or at the KH or in FS, I was always one of the most outgoing. I can work a room pretty good, but my personal choice is to not be in the room if I don't have to be.
